Henry Schein Launches Connect Dental
We have been working hard to reinvent the laboratory business unit to reflect the challenges to dentistry that face the modern dental laboratory. Something that is moving quickly in the laboratory segment is CAD/CAM and the way it digitally connect dentists, laboratories and the specialist in ways never before imagined.
The ability for a dentist to digitally scan a patient’s mouth and send that data electronically to the laboratory in real time is very exciting. Remember that these intra oral scanners allow the dentist to review the scan, whilst the patient is still in the chair, which means that each impression has the ability to be virtually perfect every time!
As many of you have already experienced that same digital data (or a scanned model) can be uploaded into a myriad of dental design software programs and with some easy manipulation you can design almost any restoration, including partial dentures and implants quickly and efficiently. Once this is done the restorative digital file can be sent to a bench top or industrial milling centre for milling or stereolithographic printing.
